Posted by admin in : UoP , trackbackThe University of phoenix was founded in 1976 and has been continuously working towards making higher education accessible and possible for working students. The school was founded by John Sperling and is owned by the Apollo Group.
It is the largest private university in North America and has nearly 200 campuses. It also provides online learning format which is available in most countries around the world. Regardless of where and how someone attends class; the person will surely get quality education of real value.
University of Phoenix makes sure that:
You earn your degree sooner than you think.
Attend classes at places and times that suit your busy schedule.
Acquire knowledge and skills that are in high demand.
Learn from teachers who are highly qualified and also work in the fields they teach in.
Receive personal attention.
Apply whatever you learn to your career.
Since the university’s main focus is “working students”, the students can choose a format that best suits their lifestyle and learning style i.e. depending upon their course the student can opt to attend classes on campus or online , or a combination of both.
Through this the university makes sure that a student never misses out on academics.
The college provides a lot of facilities that make sure that there are no boundaries as far as education is concerned:
Campus Program-:
The university provides the convenience of attending classes that are near your home or workplace.
If a person has a very hectic schedule he/she may attend classes just once a week. Classes are held in the evenings and weekends. Some campuses may offer day classes too.
One can complete the homework assignments on their own or with the help of the learning team.
Online Program -:
The university provides the flexibility of 100% online education.
A person can receive assignments, lectures, questions from the instructor through e-mail and study at their own convenience.
A person can build teamwork skills by collaborating on assignments with the learning team.
Some campuses offer a combined course of campus based and online format.
In 2008, the University of Phoenix was ranked #25 in the world for online degree programs.
ACADEMICS:
An average student spends 20 to 24 hours with a professor on each course compared to 40 hours at any traditional university. The university also instructs students to teach one another by working on assignments for 4-5 hours per week in what it calls “Learning Teams”.
However some teachers and former students feel this compressed form of teaching gives a low level of education.
FACULTY:
The University has a faculty that consists of 1,500 core faculty and 20,000 associate faculty members, all who have Masters or Doctorate Degrees. The University of Phoenix relies mostly on part time faculty as 95 % of the teachers teach part time.
The University’s unique program makes sure that a person from a weak financial background does not miss out on quality education by providing various financial aids and options for those who qualify.
Apart from low tuition fees the university offers many options to finance your education.
The cash paying plan lets a person pay for one course at a time rather than an entire semester or year at once.
Pre-Paying tuition guarantees that the rate does not increase during the duration of the program.
Many low-interest financial aid options are also available .
University of phoenix participates in many financial aid programs such as Federal Stafford Student Loan, Federal Plus Loan and Federal Pell Grant.
